Job description:
The Local Adaptation to Climate Change (LACC) Project works for land use planning and management, integrated water and forest resources management, environmental conservation and management, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces.
The TA Advisor – Technical Support will travel around all project areas to provide support to the other TA Advisors, and municipal level technical staff, with a particular focus on water resources management and WASH.
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Water Resources Management, Water Supply and Sanitation, Natural Resources Management, or equivalent degree.
Nepal Engineering Council: Registration (mandatory)
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken Nepali, good English, preferably competence in local languages
Experience and skills:
Minimum 7 years relevant work experience in WASH and watershed management
Experience working with international (donor funded) projects
Experience with DRR, watershed management and CCA
Relevant experience in water resource management, natural resource management or environmental engineering
Experience in planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of climate change adaptation and mitigation, climate resilience and disaster risk management actions
Experienced in Water Supply scheme design software package
Ability to contribute to technical and financial monitoring, and dissemination materials
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work and communicate in teams and communities of diverse cultures. Sensitive to GEDSI and HRBA issues
Strong ethics and experience dealing with sensitive community dynamics and conflict
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and good English.
Experience in cooperation with development partners
Training and facilitation skills
Experience and good track record of working with Finnish-supported Projects will be value added
Key Duties:
Support to design, implementation and monitoring the water resources management (including irrigation structures), water supply and renewable energy schemes and initiatives in the local levels (working closely with Water Resources and WASH Specialist)
Checking of designs, specifications and tender documents and following up, guiding and improving tender procedures
Technical auditing of existing water supply and irrigation systems for improvement and rehabilitation
Support and advise the TA Advisers and staff of the local level in planning, coordination and management of their activities in the area of WASH, renewable energy and water resources management, including budgeting and management of funds
Support the TA Advisers and local level for producing the work plans and budgets related to WASH and renewable energy
Ensure that disaster risk management, climate resilience, low emission development and environment protection are mainstreamed into all activities supported by the project
Ensure that GEDSI is mainstreamed into all activities supported by the Project
Participate in RM and scheme level monitoring
Support the development of training materials and delivery of training
Other duties as assigned by Deputy Team Leader
