Local Adaptation to Climate Change (LACC) Project
The Local Adaptation to Climate Change (LACC) Project promotes sustainable and inclusive livelihoods and natural resource management in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces in Nepal. LACC supports local communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change and environmental changes, aiming to secure livelihoods and improve living conditions.

Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces are facing significant risks of climate change, as well as poverty and inequality. LACC will apply a landscape approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of ecosystems and human activities, addressing complex environmental, social, and economic issues holistically.
Ecosystem-based adaptation harnesses biodiversity and ecosystem services to reduce vulnerability and to build climate resilience through nature-based solutions, involving conservation, sustainable management and restoration of ecosystems helping people adapt to climate change. The landscape approach takes comprehensive perspective that considers the broader social, economic, and political structures as well, hence directly contributing to gender transformative approach.

The 5-year project is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Government of Nepal and the European Union.
LACC impact statement
The people and their livelihoods and living conditions in Sudurpaschim and Karnali are more resilient to impacts of climate change and they use natural resources in a sustainable manner.
